About Focus on Fibre

The plan for Focus on Fibre is to have many, many different disciplines of fibre works happening in the building. People belonging to a group can choose an available time to meet and do their particular art as a group. They can meet mornings, afternoons, or evenings.

Three guilds - Boundary Spinners & Weavers, The Sunshine Quilters of Grand Forks and the Grand Forks Quilt Connections represent the major membership in the Focus on Fibre Association at this time. From each of these three groups a member has been appointed who will sit on the board of the Association. They will set policy for the building with input from their guild; they will manage the membership funds collected using them to pay utilities, insurance and other building expenses. See Building Usage Policies.

From the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary we received a grant for upgrades to the building. With those monies we painted, improved the lighting, bought tables and chairs, storage racks, a cupboard unit and other things. Thank you to the Regional District for making this possible.
There will be a modest annual fee per person for using the building. This fee will go towards operating the building, utilities, insurance and improvements.
As of November 2010 groups have started in Weaving, Spinning, Knitting. Quilting will start in January 2011 as will rug hooking and Needleworking. A Machine Knitting group is also being considered. Others could be Needle Felting, Doll Making, Crochet, Basket Weaving, Paper Making and on and on.
